Vidya Balan’s ‘Shakuntala Devi’ to release on Amazon Prime Soon!

Vidya Balan had previously announced 8th May as the release date of 'Shakuntala Devi', a biography on Indian's math wizard and Guinness record.

Since the global pandemic has everyone locked inside their homes, shootings and movie releases stand postponed. Many filmmakers have started giving cinema halls a miss. In a normal world, May would’ve marked the release of Vidya Balan’s much-awaited ‘Shakuntala Devi’.

According to media reports, Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment and Sony Pictures Networks India are all set for an OTT release of the film. Streaming giant Amazon Prime has taken over the digital release of the film.  On December 12, Vidya Balan announced the release of her film in a unique numerical video.

Mega movies like Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi and Ranveer Singh’s 83′ will release post lockdown. Others are already in talks for an early web release since these are uncertain times.

Shakuntala Devi is based on the biography of India’s math wizard and human-computer. Written and directed by Anu Memon, the film also features Sanya Malhotra and Amit Sadh in key roles.

No official statement by Amazon or the makers has released yet. This will be Balan’s comeback after last year’s super successful Mission Mangal.
