TV actor Manmeet Grewal commits suicide, neighbors refuse to help fearing COVID-19

Manmeet Grewal has acted in TV shows Aadat Se Majboor and Kuldeepak. The actor was unemployed owing to the current COVID-19 lockdown.

Manmeet Grewal was last seen in shows like Aadat Se Majboor and Kuldeepak committed suicide at his residence in Navi Mumbai. The actor was severely in debt and couldn’t find work due to Covid-19 lockdown.

The incident happened on Friday as reported by Mid-Day. Manmeet was found hanging in his bedroom by his wife. Neighbors from the building did not come forward to help fearing he may have contracted coronavirus. A security guard rushed to the site and brought the body down. He was pronounced dead upon arrival.

“The actor was in so much trouble, that they had mortgaged golden ornaments. He didn’t have money to pay Rs 8500 as rent,” an officer from the police station said in the report.

In conversation with Spotboye, Manmeet’s friend Manjit Singh said, “He was very normal that evening, went to his room and locked it from inside. That time his wife was in the kitchen making food. When she heard the noise of a chair, she rushed to the bedroom and held him. She screamed a lot for the help and neighbors did come hearing the noise but no one came forward to help or get him down.”

The actor’s close friend had committed suicide 4 days before this incident owing to financial troubles. Manmeet is survived by his wife and parents.
