Sushant Singh Rajput: Sanjay Leela Bhansali to be called in for questioning by Bandra police

A police source has confirmed sending summons to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali with regards to Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide case.

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali will soon be called in to record his statement by the Bandra police. The police have already recorded statements from his friends, family, and colleagues within the industry. A police source has confirmed that Bhansali has been asked to appear before the police in the next couple of days for questioning.

Shanoo Sharma, a casting director for Yashraj Films will also appear for the second round of questioning. She had earlier recorded her statement before the Bandra police on June 28. Shanoo has worked with Sushant in Shuddh Desi Romance and Detective Byomkesh
Bakshy! both were produced by Aditya Chopra.

“Shanoo Sharma, a casting director with the Yash Raj Films, was questioned at Bandra police station,” said Abhishek Trimukhe, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 9) to IANS earlier.

A source has also confirmed that actress Kangana Ranaut and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur will also be invited to record their statements. While both the celebrities are not directly connected with the case, they have appeared in several interviews talking about the late actor.

Shekhar Kapur was shooting for his much-awaited film Paani with Sushant when the film got shelved due to budgetary restraints.

Other than that, rumored girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty was also probed by the Bandra police for over 10 hours. Casting director Mukesh Chabbra, Sushant’s family members, psychiatrist, and Sanjana Sanghi is among the list of people already questioned by the police.

Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide on June 14, 2020. The news of his sudden demise came as a big jolt to the industry. The actor was last seen in Netflix’s Drive opposite Jacqueline Fernandez. His next movie “Dil Bechara” is scheduled to release on Disney+Hotstar on July 21.
