Lady Gaga and K-pop girl group BLACKPINK have finally released the audio version of their song ‘Sour Candy’ and it became an instant hit. The sassy track has made BLACKPINK the first K-pop girl groups to reach the first spot on iTunes UK. Upon released, Lady Gaga and BLACKPINL’s Sour Candy dominated dominated most of the charts in iTunes. The lyrics of Sour Candy are all about owning your own damage.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music about her own journey, Lady Gaga said, “When you love someone and somebody like me, that usually inspires what we were saying in the beginning, the unconscious to go, ‘Don’t do it. You’re going to get hurt. Don’t love. You don’t deserve love. Look at all the weird shit you’ve done. Look how you’ve acted,'” she said. “What I used to say was crazy behavior that I now have extreme compassion for not only myself, but other people who experience this. Lady Gaga had recently told Japanese outlet TVGroove that she reached out to Blackpink. “I called Blackpink first to suggest working together. The Blackpink members were happy and showed enthusiasm for the project, so we were able to collaborate thanks to that. I wanted to support powerful women such as Blackpink, and they felt the same.”
“I got excited while hearing them interpret the song in Korean,” she added.
“I told them that their part is very creative and fun. Blackpink are beautiful young women, and they’re very talented. Through this collaboration, I felt proud as if I’d become Blackpink’s fifth member.”
