Shahrukh Khan or better known as ‘The King Khan’ of Bollywood. Shahrukh Khan has won many hearts in his 28 years of career in the film industry. Many may know the hard journey he had to complete in order to be in the position where he is right now. Coming to Mumbai just to complete his dream of reaching the top with his acting talent. Few may know the story behind Gauri and Shahrukh Khan’s marriage. Bollywood’s king khan is not only the king of romance on screen but also in his real life. When he courted Gauri Khan for marriage Shahrukh Khan was just at the start of his career. Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Khan got married in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony, after a six-year-long courtship.
His first film Deewana was released in 1992 which was one year after Shah Rukh Khan got married to Gauri Khan that is in 1991. Very few are aware of the difficulties and challenges Shahrukh and Gauri had to face due to different religions and backgrounds. This difference was quite a concern for Gauri’s family even after her marriage.
Shahrukh Khan During an interview while speaking about his marriage said,’ I remember many of Gauri’s relatives were not happy when we got married. They were people of old opinion. I respect them and their thinking.
Further mentioning the incidents after their marriage Shahrukh Khan describes saying,’ I still remember that Gauri’s family was a little older. When I reached there, some people were saying this is a Muslim boy. Will he change the girl’s name? Will Gauri become Muslim now?
Sharukh khan being a jolly person decided to play a prank on Gauri’s family he described the incident in the interview saying,’ They were all talking in Punjabi. So, I looked at the time and said, ‘OK Gauri, put on your ‘burqa’ and let’s read the namaaz now.’ The whole family stared at us wondering if I had already changed her religion already. So I told them, ‘From now on she will wear a burqa all the time, she won’t ever leave the house and her name will be changed to Ayesha and she will be like this.’
Shah Rukh Khan married his lady love, Gauri Khan, in October 1991 and the couple has been going strong with their marriage. Their love and bond make them the most liked Bollywood celebrity couple. And this incident that took place during their wedding reception is sure a beautiful memory in their life.
