In her interviews, Sara has often talked about having PCOD and how she worked hard to attain a healthy lifestyle. The actor while studying at Columbia University weighed 96kgs which she managed to shed in over a year and a half. If that is not inspirational, we don’t know what is.
Talking about her transformation, Sara said: “For me, it all started in New York. I weighed 96kg and had a year to go before I graduated. The transition from pizza to salad and from lethargy to cardio is how I kickstarted my fitness journey. I simply started eating healthy and began working out when in New York.”
On her Diet and Training
The Love Aaj Kal actor recalled how she had to start from the basics. She said, “There were so many different types of classes in that city, from functional training to boxing to cycling. But because I was so overweight at the start, it was more about cardio-heavy workouts like walking, cycling, and hitting the treadmill so that I could lose the weight before entering the intermediate forms of exercise.”
“With a combination of functional training, Pilates, boxing, and cardio. I like to change things up, but ensure that I work out for an hour and a half every single day except on Sunday because that’s my day to chill,” she further added.

Talking about her weight loss journey, Sara said, “I remember saying ‘you know what I am going to do it’ and I went to the gym and did 3 crunches with a weighted ball in my hand and I couldn’t do more because I was heavy and I was not fit. I left the gym and came home and said that ‘you know what, I don’t know if I can do this. Maybe I can’t’.”

She further added, “I woke up the next day and went back to the gym and did 4 crunches and then I did 5 and then I did 6 and I really don’t need to boast but I am down for a crunch challenge right now. I did a lot of abs this morning.”
Sharing her struggle with PCOD and how she stays fit, Sara said, “It is one of the things that I struggle with to date because the only real cure is a constant, consistent, focused, and determined lifestyle change. There is no shortcut to it.”
Meanwhile, the actor has already completed shooting for her next film Coolie No.1 opposite Varun Dhawan. Sara Ali Khan will also star in Anand L. Rai’s Atrangi Re alongside Akshay Kumar and Dhanush.
