Remo D’Souza to direct Saroj Khan’s biopic, reveals daughter

Celebrated choreographer Saroj Khan had worked on almost 2000 songs in a career spanning 40 years.

The Bollywood industry woke up to another shocking news with Saroj Khan’s passing. The veteran choreographer had one of the most inspirational and interesting journeys in Bollywood. Having worked for over 60 years, Saroj Khan had choreographed almost 2000 songs. In the latest news, Saroj Khan’s daughter revealed that the late dancer wished Remo D’Souza to direct her biopic. Since he is a dancer himself, she said he would understand her journey better.

Saroj Khan’s life from a child actor to the leading most sought after choreographer was to be turned into a biopic. It is reported that she had turned down many offers before. After working with Remo D’Souza for her last song ‘Tabah Ho Gaye’ in Kalank, Saroj Ji had given Remo the nod. The project didn’t work out then. However, Remo is now keen to make Saroj ji’s biopic and would soon work out the project details with her daughter.

Saroj Khan’s journey in Bollywood has been full of hard work and passion. The celebrated choreographer entered the industry as a child artist and went on to become assistant an choreographer. Eventually, her work and recognition grew enough to make her one of the leading choreographers in the history of Indian cinema. Lovingly called “masterji”, Saroj Khan has worked with almost all the leading actresses in Bollywood. From Madhuri, Sridevi, Aishwarya, Kareena to Alia Bhatt among many others.

Apart from all the groundbreaking achievements, Saroj Khan was also the first female choreographer in Bollywood. She was a pioneer and one of the few women working behind the camera when the industry was dominated and run by men.
