Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Singh take a trip down memory lane as ‘Lootera’ clocks its 7 years in Bollywood

Lootera is deemed as one of the best works by Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh. The film was based on a short story titled 'The Last Leaf'.

Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha starrer Lootera are one of the finest romantic movies of Bollywood. The film completes 7 years in the Indian Cinema today. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the film was loosely based on O.Henry’s short story ‘The Last Leaf’. On marking the film’s 7 years, the actors and director shared their special memories with fans on social media.

Taking to Instagram, Sonakshi shared a video that will surely take you on a nostalgic ride if you have been a die-hard fan of the film. Director Vikram Motwane also penned a heartwarming note on the film’s journey and making.

In the bittersweet note, Vikram on his social media wrote, “As a director, seeing ‘copy no. 1’ on a can of film used to be bittersweet. It meant the absolute end of production. No more work. The film is finally ready. You can’t do shit anymore. You can shave and be less obsessed and finally get some sleep. But it also meant that this amazing journey with all these amazing people has come to an end. And all you’re left with are the memories of the times you spent together writing, prepping, shooting, editing, working on sound and music. 7 years of Lootera.”

Screening the first copy of a film used to be a ceremony. The fresh print would come from the lab and we would watch it being spooled in the projection room and pray, fingers crossed very tight, that everything was ok. As a director, seeing ‘copy no. 1’ on a can of film used to be bittersweet. It meant the absolute end of production. No more work. The film is finally ready. You can’t do shit anymore. You can shave and be less obsessed and finally get some sleep. But it also meant that this amazing journey with all these amazing people has come to an end. And all you’re left with are the memories of the times you spent together writing, prepping, shooting, editing, working on sound and music. 7 years of Lootera…

Another video by the director shows Sonakshi Sinha’s amazing up close transformation as Pakhi Ray. Ranveer also shared a video of his different transformations in the film. From his clean-shaven good boy looks to his memorable ruffled motorcycle shot, Ranveer managed to floor the audience in every scene. The film was made even delightful with Amit Trivedi’s iconic soundtrack and Amit Bhattacharya’s lyrics.

Lootera is a historical romantic drama set in the 1950s amidst the Zamindari Abolition Act. The film has a tragic yet romantic end which is perhaps what makes it a masterpiece. Lootera received wide critical acclaim across the country.
