Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife seeks divorce, says “Self respect is everything”

Nawaz's wife Aliya has sent a legal notice to the actor and is also reverting to her original name Anjana Kishor Pandey.

Critically acclaimed actor Nawazduddin Siddiqui’s wife Aaliya has sent a legal notice demanding divorce and maintenance. The couple has been married for over a decade now. She also claimed that they have been having problems since the beginning of their marriage.

In a recent interview, Aaliya’s lawyer Abhay Sahay confirmed the news and shared that the notice was sent on 7th May through email and WhatsApp but there has been no response from the actor.

Speaking to India TV, Aaliya said, “As a wife one goes through a lot, makes a lot of compromises. But if one feels that your partner is taking it easy. One big reason for seeking divorce is that there is no self-respect. Yes, you are a good actor, people look up to you. You can influence so many people. I have been part of your journey… aapka saath deti hu. There are a lot of issues, I cannot elaborate, they are sensitive in nature, can harm.”

The law firm representing Aaliya confirmed the same and said the allegations against Nawazuddin and his family are sensitive and serious in nature.  The 22-page long legal notice states serious issues between the couple.

The couple started dating in 2005 before tying the knot in 2009. Aaliya, a budding producer, is Nawazuddin’s second wife. They are parents to Shaura and Yaani Siddiqui both nine and five years old respectively. After marriage, she changed her name to Aaliya but has reverted to her old name Anjali/ Anjana two months back.

Nawazuddin is currently in his hometown in Uttar Pradesh. with special permission
to visit his ailing mother. The family is under quarantine for 14 days following his travel from Mumbai on May 10.

The Manto actor is yet to release any official statements.
