
In case you have lost your PAN Card or it is misplaced, damaged or you wish to have a duplicate copy of it, don’t worry, you have an option to order a reprint online. Unlike other government issue documents, the process of applying for a duplicate PAN Card is too simple.
What all you have to do is to furnish a copy of the old PAN Card and the copy of FIR if it is stolen or misplaced. You can only apply for duplicate PAN Card in some certain conditions. In those conditions, your PAN Card number does not change but you get a new copy of it.

Conditions in which you need to apply for Duplicate PAN Card
As we have already mentioned above that there are certain situations when you need to order for a re-print of your PAN Card. Here are some of the conditions:
- Either Loss or Theft: There are people who always carry documents like Aadhar Card, Pan Card and others in their wallet. There is a possibility that your Pan Card could be stolen.
- PAN Card Got Misplaced: Having misplaced the PAN Card is one of the most common reasons in which people apply for a duplication Pan Card.
- Damaged: It is a document and can be damaged because of numerous reasons. If your PAN Card is damaged, you can also order for a re-print of the same.
How to apply for duplicate PAN Card online?
- Log on the website of NSDL
- Navigate the option ‘Apply Online’ on the main-page.
- Under the application type, select an option ‘Re-print Pan Card’
- When you click on the above option, a new page with instructions and guidelines would appear on the screen.
- After reading these guidelines, the applicant can select the type of PAN they need to apply i.e. individual/company/HUF/firm etc.).
- Select the appropriate option and fill all the fields such as first name, last name, date of birth, email ID, mobile number and PAN Card numbers correctly.
- After submitting all the details, all the asked documents such as ID proof and photographs must be furnished along with the form. Notably, all documents must be self-attested by the applicant before it gets submitted.
- The application form can be submitted either online or sent by post toNSDL along with all the neccessory documents.
- The fees of application is Rs 107 for resident individual or Rs 989/- for non-resident individual (communication address outside India) can be paid through various means.
- You have multiple options such as debit card/credit card, net banking or demand draft to make the payment.
- Once the application fee is paid, an acknowledgment number will be generated which is required for all future correspondences.
- A duplicate PAN card bearing the same PAN number is sent by post at the correspondence address mentioned in the form, in 15 to 20 working days.
How to apply for duplicate PAN Card via offline?
Don’t know how to order re-print of PAN Card offline? Don’t fret amigos, we got your back. Follow these steps to do so.
- You can take either take a print out of the ‘Request for new PAN card or changes or correction in PAN Data’ from NSDL website or collect the same form from NSDL office.
- Fill all the necessary fileds in BLACK letters.
- You are required to affix two of your passport size photos which should be cross signed sparing the face. It should be affixed at the top of the form.
- You will also see a space at the top of the form where you will have to write your PAN Number that has been damaged, stolen or misplaced.
- After providing all the details, you will have to furnish all the required documents to support the form.
- Now, send the form to NSDL office or facilitation center.
- From there, NSDL sends the duplicate Pan Card application form to the Income Tax department’s PAN services unit on receiving the payment of the same and generating of acknowledgement number.
- You can use the same acknowledgement number to track the status
Things to Know About Duplicate PAN Card Application
- The moment you lost your PAN Card, the first thing you need to do is to file an FIR. Along with the required documents, you will have to send the photocopy of FIR to NSDL office for duplicate PAN Card application form.
- In case the communication address is in India, the fee for processing these applications is Rs.110 including taxes.
- The fee for processing PAN Card application when address is outside India is Rs.1020 including taxes.
- You can make the payment through Credit Card/Debit Card, demand Draft or even Net Banking.
- If you are playing via credit cards or debit cards, an additional charge of 2% will be applicable by the bank that provides gateway facility. Also, exchange or conversion rates may be applicable.
- Once payment made, acknowledgement will be displayed which will have to be saved. This acknowledgement will have to be printed and sent to NSDL e-Gov site.
- In case the applicant is a minor, then his/her Aadhaar number will have to be given in the application form. This number will then be authenticated.
- In case of a non-individual PAN applicant, the acknowledgement receipt will have to be signed by an authorised signatory i.e., Karta if it is HUF, Partner in case of a Partnership Firm, Director in case of Company, Trustee in case of Trust and Authorised signatory in all remaining categories.)
- In case thumb impression is used as signature, it will have to be verified by a Magistrate or a Gazetted Officer or a Notary Public, under official stamp and seal.
- You will get your PAN card at the address which is mentioned in your Aadhaar.
- While sending the application by post, on the top of the envelope mention “Application for Reprint of PAN-Acknowledgement No”
Documents Needed for Lost PAN Card: Individual Applicants
Identity Proof: You must have a valid photo before you apply for a duplication PAN Card. The ID proof should have your name, photo, date of birth, signature and your father’s name. Any changes or correction you want to be made in PAN Card should be matched to a relevant document. You may submit anyone or all of the documents as mentioned below:
- Aadhaar Card
- Voter ID card
- Driving License
- Passport
- Ration card bearing photograph of the applicant
- Arm’s license
- Any valid identity card issued by the Central Government or the State Government or any Public Sector enterprise
- Photocopy of the pensioner card bearing the photograph of the applicant
- Photocopy of the Health Service Scheme Card
Age Proof: Providing a valid date of birth proof is mandatory to order the re-print of PAN Card. You can provide any of the following documents as a age proof.
- Birth Certificate as issued by the local Municipal Authority or any other relevant office
- Pension payment order
- Marriage certificate issued by the Registrar of Marriages
- Matriculation Certificate
- Passport
- Driving License
- Domicile Certificate
- A notarized Affidavit vetted before the magistrate for the proof of date of birth
Address proof: You may submit any of the following documents as a proof of correspondence address.
- Aadhaar Card
- Voter ID card
- Driving License
- Passport
