
Coronavirus Update: With the biggest jump of 8,392 new cases in a single day, India now becomes the 7th worst hit nation due to COVID-19. The country has surpassed it’s 9th position from the list of 10 worst affected nations after the recorded cases increased to over 1.9lakh. France has marginally lower cases of 1,88,752.
The pandemic has taken a toll of 193 patients in the last 24 hours. India has recorded its biggest jump in the number of cases in a single day with 8,392 active patients.
The United States has reported over 18 lakh cases making them the top worst-hit countries in the world. Brazil and Russia follow with over 5 lakh and 4 lakh cases respectively.
According to government data, ICMR tests over 1 lakh people for coronavirus daily, which is significantly more than it did last month. The country has now tripled the amount of testing crossing over a million people. Andhra Pradesh and Delhi are the states with the most number of testing.
India has been recording a spike in the number of cases for the past 3 days. This comes after the government issued notification of reopening the country in a phased manner.
The lockdown in containment zones is expected to stay put till June 30. Places with fewer cases will have extensive relaxations including the opening of religious places and shopping malls in a phased manner. The country has been shut under lockdown for over two months now following the coronavirus pandemic.
